The birth of conjoined twins inside Liberated Syrian areas
old pregnant woman from the Zawia mountain went to women’s clinic at the Kiwan Hospital in Kafer Idlib, supported by the Syrian Expatriate Medical Association (SEMA), after going through the tests and x-ray they found out that the fetus had congenital malformation.
The operation was performed and the embryo was extracted with two heads and one body (conjunctive twins). The pediatrician then followed the child’s condition and performed the necessary procedures, but the child died less than two hours after his birth.
This condition is very rare and the incidence rate is 1/250000 of all identical twins, the cause of the deformity is either a genetic factor or the pregnant woman getting exposed to toxic drugs or cancer or radiation or chemical contamination.
